“...And as the clock struck four, the third was no more. The child watched her cousin fall and ran to his side. She listened to his final words, ‘Listen, young rabbit, and you’ll lead to greatness.’ And as the light faded from his eyes, a single tear strolled down her cheek - alone before she stood. Fist balled up, she was determined. She would prevail…”Salty sea air filled the lungs of all passengers. The boat swayed, back and forth as it cut through the water below. On board, a number of people - primarily crew members - kept the deck tidy and sailing as smooth as they could with winds rolling in. Dark clouds could be seen making their way closer, accompanied by the occasional boom of thunder. Below the deck, a few passengers walked back and forth between rooms. Around this time, they were just getting a light snack as they’d be docking soon for the night. They’d get dinner afterwards.
However, unknown to the rest of the ship, a small girl sat stowing away under the stairs, a simple book in hand to entertain her time. Her hair all roughed up from a long ride and dust clinging to her clothes from sitting there for the past few hours, she closed the pages and peered out to watch a mother and her young child walk towards the stairs, beginning to climb up. She scowled, slightly jealous of the two; and while the mother never saw her, she was clearly caught by the little boy. His dull green gaze meeting her violet, they made steady eye contact for a good second or two before he vanished up to the deck. In that time, she put her finger up to her lips and a small - fake - smile to give off a mischievous play. He seemed to understand what she wanted him to as he smiled back.
As the ship slowed and movement stopped a few minutes later, the girl beneath the stairs waited for everyone else to pile out. The last set of footsteps disappeared from the deck above, signalling that it was her time to move. Rising from her position there, she stepped out and went up to the deck, stretching her limbs and continuing down to the docks. She followed her feet, walking among the shadows until she arrived at the edge of the trees bordering the small docking area. There she stopped and leaned against one of the trunks. And she waited.
She, Alice, was there, on Galuna Island, to meet a group of people she had seen time and time again. She had assisted them on a number of missions as a battle pawn, though they were just a ragtag group looking to achieve different things. Usually they worked together when it would further their own goals. Tonight, however, that would change. There were plans in the works, plans that Alice would delight in. One-by-one, six others showed up, different each in their own ways. Alice begun the meeting.
“Greetings, children,” a rather odd way of starting the meeting. However, as she was older than almost all of them, she was rather fond of greeting them in such a way.
“You all know why we’re here right?”“Duh, we’re here to start an actual team instead of ragtag feel-like-it’s,” one replied. Her tone was not happy at being called a child.
“Can we get on with this?”“Watch your tone, please,” Alice glared at the taller, more matured lady before returning her attention back to the meeting.
“First order of business: We need a name…”…
“Ladies and gentlemen, it’s come to our attention that Caduceus Scale cannot go on for even a week without having a guildmaster.” On a stage in a building on the island of Galuna, a girl spoke into a microphone. Her hands shook slightly, forcing her gaze to remain upon the crowd. Her shoulder stung a bit, wanting her to turn and take a look in the closed casket behind her before it was to be disposed of. Dark brown hair down beneath her knees, she was one of the original group of seven. The starting team. And yet, three of the others had already died leading the guild. The rest either stayed or left, depending on their personal decisions. She was slightly nervous - not about leading, but about dying. The main reason the others were gone were medical problems combined with having to deal with light mages. While she hadn’t aged even a week since the guild’s creation - before that even. She didn’t have to fret about medical problems, but the fear was still there.
“As such, I - being the current guild ace - have to step up. It is so, in great regret, that I finally take the leading role as those have before me,” she stated, her violet eyes meeting the faces of the saddened ones.
“And though life leads to death, we’ll one day break this chain. In honor of Grayson Maraude, I, Alice Labelle, will take the responsibility of furthering the goals of the guild.” She turned, allowing full view of the casket behind her as she gestured towards it.
“Now, to allow his soul eternal freedom, we take his corpse away.”As two other guild members lifted and carried the casket away, Alice returned to directly facing the crowd.
“Thank you for joining me and allowing me to lead this guild. I will take us places. We will go far, that I promise,” she bowed, setting the microphone in its stand and walking off. Upon disappearing down the stairs of the stage and down to the hall leading to the guild’s rooms, she began to think of how they’d dispose of his body - setting it on a small raft and setting it into the water. They’d burn the raft as it floated atop the water, the corpse turning to ashes with it. Returning her thoughts to reality, she raised her hand to the where she felt something damp rolling down her right cheek. There, having fallen from her right eye, was a single salty tear.

Extra Comments: May/May not be entirely character cannon. Most aspects I plan on keeping, though small details - such as the amount of mages in the original team or causes of death - are susceptible to change based upon full character reveal or writing of the guild lore.
